Electric cars, classed as EV (Electric Vehicles) internationally, are growing in prominence and calibre. In several countries, initiatives are now in place for networks of charging stations. The cars are scheduled to roll out in 2011.
Experts claim that in rolling out the infrastructure, governments need to adopt an open platform – more like Java than Microsoft – a way in which the adaptation to electric cars can be swifter and more easily integrated. London is including a mandate to make all new developments include charging points in their parking lots.
Other car finance news indicates that car companies are adopting the scrappage scheme successfully, but some buyers using the scheme are being charged higher levels of vehicle finance .
