The car scrappage scheme is being hailed as a universal success. Car dealers throughout the UK have reported an increase in new car enquiries. The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF) reported that car dealers are seeing a majority of middle-aged cash buyers, most not turning to car finance for their purchase.
The RMIF surveyed dealers with the help of trade publication Automotive Management. Some 92.8% of dealers are seeing an increase in new car enquiries in light of the car scrapping scheme.
The director of RMIF, Sue Robinson, reportedly commented: " Car sales should see a significant increase in the coming months as a result of the vehicle scrappage scheme. This will go a long way towards helping to revive consumer confidence, and the UK car market, making it a double win for buyers and business alike."
