The
Advertising Standards Authority have ruled that a
contract car hire company has been misleading customers. The
firm offered
cheap prices that ‘beat the
credit crunch ’, but these deals were not actually
available.
The rates were not available because
finance companies had changed them regularly,
Lombard Vehicle Management claimed. Lombard say that prices had
been accurate but were no longer as
finance firms switched their rates more regularly than usual.
The ASA ruled that the advert must no appear again in its current
form.
Despite casualties of the
credit crunch, such as
Welcome
Car Finance, many
dealers are reporting stronger than expected
vehicle finance sales. The effect of the
scrappage scheme on
new car sales has been positive to date.
