According to a caution from the Finance and Leasing Association, the recovery in the car sales market could be impeded by a lack of dealer vehicle finance . Many car finance companies are struggling without government aid.
If demand for new cars does soar, the demand for motor finance will also. The FLA are calling for the government to provide help to motor finance providers .
The FLA head of motor finance, Paul Harrison, reportedly commented: Not all specialist motor finance providers are banks. The FLA is asking the Government to extend the support offered to the big banks, including a credit guarantee scheme, to all types of lenders . Access to affordable wholesale funding is essential if the motor market is to have the capacity to meet future demand for finance from businesses and consumers when the economy recovers.
