Car finance fraud campaign successful

Mon, 19 May 2008

According to car finance news this morning, novel partnership between the Finance and Leasing Association and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), the Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (AVCIS), is proving successful.

The pioneering service aims to crack down on vehicle finance using text message technology and web services from CAP known as Valuation Anywhere. This innovative service helps to identify and value recovered vehicles instantly, using mobile phones or the web.

Car dealers and automotive professionals also use the service. By sending the registration mark and mileage to a mobile, users are able to accurately value vehicles. Combined with the vehicle fraud squad operations and many vehicles have been recovered with Value Anywhere proving successful in the field.

The Head of AVCIS, Detective Chief Inspector Lambotte, reportedly commented: "The provision of CAP information in partnership with the Finance and Leasing Association adds a valuable resource to our investigative teams, not only in measuring performance, but more importantly providing accurate data in respect of the value of assets which in turn supports investigations."
