No insurance no car

Mon, 07 Jan 2008

Specialist police units throughout the country are clamping down on those cars and drivers that do not have car insurance . Driving without a valid car insurance policy is one of the largest motoring problems on UK roads, and the authorities are stepping up their fight against it.

Those people that do not have car insurance and cause accidents increase the annual premium of insured drivers considerably. Hundreds of people every year are killed by drivers with no insurance cover . Police are now developing a close relationship with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau to clamp down on offenders.

Using the Motor Insurance Database, held by the MIB, police are enjoying record success in tracking down uninsured drivers. Many that drive without insurance also have no tax, and often no MOT.

When drivers are found with no insurance, their car is confiscated, and the driver is prosecuted. Police have seized over 100,000 uninsured cars in the last year. Many drivers will be looking for a new car using car finance in the coming year.
