Ill effects of new cheapest car

Wed, 30 Jan 2008

The Tata Nano has recently dominated car finance and car industry news headlines. The new vehicle, heralded as the smallest car in the world, is also one of the cheapest and is expected to sell hundreds of thousands of models in the next few years.

Tata Motors have been praised as reinventing the wheel, and unlocking the motoring dreams of millions. Further still, the car has been called ‘revolutionary.’ However, the success of the Nano could have a flipside.

For instance, critics say, the saturation of the Indian market with a cheap car of this nature will cause greater traffic congestion, damage the environment and the health of the nation, and impact on global warming .

The Tata Namo is thought to be subsidised by the Indian government, and critics claims that the car cuts corners. How the Nano will be received remains to be seen.

Recent news indicated that Tata will investigate how to offer vehicle finance packages with the car.
