Cheapest car in the world

Fri, 11 Jan 2008

Indian motor vehicle company Tata Motors have revealed the cheapest car in the world, initially going on sale to the enormous Indian new cars market.

Tata Motors have developed a car called the Nano hatchback, which will have a starting price of £1300. The car will do approximately 50 miles to every gallon of petrol, and has a small, rounded frame.

The cheapest car in the world is currently the Maruti 800, another Indian model, but the Nano will halve this price. Although the Nano will meet European emissions standards, it will not be sold in the West.

Rival carmakers, including Ford, Toyota and Renault-Nissan are planning to launch rival cheap cars in this region. Tata hit the UK news last year when they were named as frontrunner in the Ford auction of car marques Jaguar and Land Rover .

The Nano is one make of car that many people wouldn't even need car finance to purchase!
