Car dealers have faced a rough ride lately; with the credit crunch squeezing profits and the used car market very much a buyers market. According to a Motor Trader article, despite the bleak period, hope could be on the horizon for car dealers, many of whom offer car finance .

A recent Mintel study indicates that a significant percentage of mortgage holders in the UK could be considered sub-prime . A motor industry finance analyst, Graham Filmer, was reported as saying that dealers most focus on their own car finance and car insurance products to offer to consumers.

Filmer reportedly commented: "Dealers must work to create consumer confidence in what is a discretionary spend for a good many," he said. "Dealers should start selling it more aggressively."
