Avis, the car rental company, have released a series of top tips to help motorists drive their car more safely during the cold snap that is currently engulfing the British isles . The top tips provided by the car company are a useful reminder that driving in cold weather can be hazardous.
The commercial director of Avis UK, Daniel McCarthy, reportedly commented: "Theres nothing worse than being caught in the snow. Driving in sub-zero temperatures can be absolutely treacherous; we are hoping our tips will help drivers feel safer and more comfortable on their journeys."
Avis tips included: parking downhill rather than uphill, using highest gear possible to start the car without stalling, warming the engine before setting off, being aware that the handbrake can freeze, being prepared to skid, planning for journeys and making sure that you have enough fuel for your travel as well as an emergency pack.
