Interest-free car finance could increase

Thu, 17 Apr 2008

According to reports in the car finance news, car companies in the UK are set to unveil a string of second quarter zero per cent interest vehicle finance deals. The plan is designed to boost sales in showroom.

Trend Tracker, an independent market analyst, found that interest-free finance offers are increasing, possibly due to hitches with personal loan provision from banks on the high street due to the credit crunch.

A consultant at Trend Tracker, Toby Procter, reportedly commented: "In the current climate I would be surprised if these deals didn’t become more frequent. I would say they are more common now than they would have been this time last year."

Procter reportedly continued: "Offering finance can be a two-edged sword. In good times they can make money out of finance and in bad times they can use it as a means of giving indirect subsidies without hurting their prices or values too much."
