The number one
car
supermarket in the UK, Motorpoint, has gone on record to
explain that pushy sales staff and a culture of
discounts
in car supermarkets are largely a myth.
Motorpoint stress that their discounts are not used to lure
unwitting customers into a
sale, instead claiming that they are genuine
savings that are passed to the buyer.
When it comes to in-house
car finance, a sector that has been openly criticised in recent
years as
personal loans become more competitive, Motorpoint are keen to
stress that their Boomerang programme is individually tailored and
competitive. Their
vehicle finance is regulated by the
financial services authority, and underwritten by
Lloyds TSB, meaning no chance of mis-selling policies.
John Hood, the general
manager of Motorpoint, reportedly commented: The training
of sales staff is a key priority for Motorpoint to ensure a
hassle-free experience on the forecourt, and that the individual
needs of the customer are clearly met. We have put specific
procedures in place to make sure the customer does not feel
intimidated, which is something you may find with other mainstream
retailers. Our objective is not to sell the most
expensive car with the most amount of extras.
