A new type of car technology that is unique to England could become commonplace on our roads in the future . It is the major component of the first production vehicle being created by the newest UK car manufacturer .
The Cranfield University technology uses a pioneering new technology that mass-produces structural space-frame applications that are constructed using carbon fibre. The car manufacturer Axon is using this technology to create new, lightweight cars to create an environmentally friendly hatchback.
The managing director of Axon Automotive, and one of the developers of the technology, Dr. Steven Cousins, reportedly commented that: Axon aims to be the most fuel efficient car manufacturer in Europe and much of how we will do this comes from using our specialist carbon fibre technology.
The carbon technology is as strong as steel but much, much lighter. This could slash fuel costs dramatically.
