According to a new study of used car reliability, car buyers would do well to take out car finance and spend out on a Japanese motor .
The study was conducted by Warranty Direct, and took a survey of cars aged three to nine years old. The study spanned both the UK and the US, and took place over a 12-month period. The results indicate that new car finance would be better spent on a Japanese car.
Mazda and Honda came clear first, with under 10 per cent of vehicle owners reporting a fault during the stuffy. Toyota and Mitsubishi came in third and fourth respectively, with manufacturers in the Far East taking up to top eight spots.
The least reliable vehicles, a fact that may delight environmentally minded motorists, were found to come from 4x4 manufacturers including Jeep and Land Rover. Almost 50 per cent of owners apparently reported mechanical faults over the course of the year.
