Considering a green future seems to be everywhere in the media at the moment, be it green clothes, green electricity or green food. However, a fresh report from the Detroit Motor Show indicates that General Motors, the biggest car company in the world, are also limbering up to go green.
GM is apparently looking towards green alternative fuels, even as they release more gas-guzzling SUVs into the marketplace. The boss of GM, Rick Wagoner, sees a huge future for green vehicles. GM opened they show with the launch of their Chevrolet Volt, a car that can operate entirely using an electric motor .
It is expected that the car will be powered by lithium batteries, charged using normal electricity, and may feature supplementary power sources such as hydrogen fuel cells and ethanol-based petrol engines. Wagoner warned of a world without petrol in the near future. He also highlighted an ‘irrefutable business case’ for the production of green vehicles .
