Rumours are circulating the UK car market about whether Ford have decided to sell Jaguar and Land Rover together, and if so, who is the buyer? Speculation about a possible bidder includes several companies . Ford, unsurprisingly, are reported to be declining to comment.
Possible buyers apparently include the Tata Group. This company are actually a diversified niche of Indian firms who make all kinds of vehicles . Large commercial takeovers are their speciality, and they are thought to be looking for a stake in the UK market. They may bid alone or with another Indian firm, Mahindra Mahindra.
The Fiat Group are also thought to be in the race, following a revival of flagging fortunes over the past decade. Fiat, who are on the road to recovery, already own luxury marques such as Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari. Fiat apparently state their disinterest in the deal.
Private equity firms are also in the race, including Cerberus Capital Management, as are Russian manufacturer GAZ. Other equity and investment firms have expressed an interest.
