Following recent reports from the North East that Carshock (a car supermarket group) had gone into receivership following the withdrawal of support from two finance companies, it appears that another car supermarket chain may be in trouble.
Popular car supermarket group Cars4U, founded just a few years ago in 2002, has closed several Welsh outlets. According to some Welsh car finance and industry experts, the group could be in trouble.
The branches, located at Treforest, Caerphilly and Cardiff have been closed until further notice. The group employs up to fifty people, and is managed by Franco Gallo, himself a car supermarket veteran.
Sliding profit margins and decreasing popularity of forecourt finance have hit car dealerships hard.
