Deciding which car to drive brings with it a number of decisions. How much does the vehicle actually cost? How much would car finance cost? Would a personal loan be available? How much will insurance and tax be? How economical is the engine? One thing that is becoming more common is considering the environmental impact of your car .
According to a recent online poll by swiftcover.com, a massive 97 per cent of drivers in the UK would consider purchasing a more ‘green’ vehicle with the aim of decreasing carbon monoxide and other greenhouse gas emissions . However, this was partially contingent on price, with 73 per cent including the proviso ‘only if it was cheaper’ or cheaper to run.
Andrew Blowers, an expert from swiftcover.com proposed the idea that the government should work with suppliers of fuel and manufacturers of motor vehicles to improve the situation and make green vehicles more common. The news arrives at the same time as the 700 page Stern report and decisive action calls from Tony Blair and the labour government.
